It is one thing to make a single horrendous mistake and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.giftcardadvocate.org\/news\/?p=542\" target=\"_blank\">have someone arrested<\/a> when they are simply trying to use valid American Express gift cards.\u00a0 But hearing <a href=\"http:\/\/chuvachienes.com\/2010\/07\/14\/best-buy-and-gift-cards-be-careful-folks\/\" target=\"_blank\">another story<\/a> like the following one makes me think that Best Buy simply isn&#8217;t the place to use <em>any<\/em> open-loop gift cards.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I bought a Wii Fit Plus and a Wii set using gift cards I received for  my birthday.\u00a0 These are American  Express and Visa Gift Cards.\u00a0 When the cashier took the gift  cards, he never returned them to me.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t think that was not normal  since I rarely use gift cards.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I decided that the Wii and Wii Fit Plus set was not for me so I  returned it (unopened, in mint condition \u2013 after only a few days).\u00a0  This is what I got from the folks at customer service.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe can only refund American Express Gift Cards directly to the Gift Card  itself.\u00a0 The sales person shouldn\u2019t have taken it from you.\u00a0 Since you  don\u2019t have the Gift Card anymore,<\/strong> <strong>we can only issue a  BEST BUY Store Credit! And if you use Visa  or Mastercard Gift Cards, you can only get a store credit  regardless.<\/strong>\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Now, that was not my issue.\u00a0 The issue that they cannot refund me the  value in cash for gift cards is  absurd, specially if their own salesperson took it from me.\u00a0 I was very  disappointed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Best Buy sure doesn&#8217;t get open-loop gift cards.
